Set up Raxak in about 10 minutes.

Raxak is parent-first: you set up your own phone, see it working, then connect your child's phone. Here's the whole journey, step by step.

Step 1 · Parent phone

Set up your own phone first

  1. Install Raxak from Google Play

    Get it from the official Play Store listing — Raxak is never distributed as a sideloaded APK.

  2. Sign in with Google (or your phone number)

    One tap with the Google account already on your phone — no new password to create. In India you can sign in with a phone number and a 6-digit SMS code instead. The same screen also has "This is my child's phone" for the child's device.

  3. Pick your family goals

    Choose what matters most — balancing daily screen time, blocking harmful content, protecting sleep, reining in games and social media, knowing which apps are used, or celebrating good habits. Common ones are pre-ticked; your picks shape your dashboard and setup plan. Every step here is skippable.

  4. Preview your dashboard

    You'll see a sample of exactly what you'll get for your child — wellness score, screen time, top apps, alerts. It goes live the moment their phone connects. Raxak only ever sees app names and time spent — never messages or photos.

  5. Recommended: "Get my own wellness insights"

    Limits stick when they're shared. Keep this toggle on and Raxak asks for Usage Access on your phone — nothing about you is tracked until you grant it. Step 2 · Pairing

Connect your child's phone

Pairing is QR-first: scanning the code with the child's phone installs Raxak and fills in the pairing code by itself. A 4-character code is always there as a fallback. No account or password is needed on the child's phone. Everything here happens on your phone first — the child's phone only needs to open the app once.

Raxak asks one question before showing the code: "Is your child's phone with you right now?" Pick the answer that matches, and follow that path below.

  1. Add your child in the app

    On your phone: Family → Add child. Enter their name and age. When the code appears, tell Raxak whether the child's phone is with you or somewhere else.

    The code stays valid for weeks — there is no countdown and nothing to refresh. Leave the screen, come back later, share it again: the same code keeps working until the child's phone connects.

  2. If the phone is with you: scan the QR

    Point the child's phone camera at the QR on your screen — it opens Raxak's Google Play listing and, once installed, fills in the code by itself. Can't scan? Install Raxak from Google Play on the child's phone and type the 4-character code shown under the QR.

  3. If the phone is somewhere else: send the link

    Choose "It's somewhere else" (or tap "Phone not with you? Send a link instead" under the QR). Then tap Send the install link and share it with whoever has the phone — WhatsApp is fine. Opening the link installs Raxak with the code already filled in.

    That's all you can do from your phone for now. You can leave the screen; Raxak notifies you the moment the child's phone connects. Don't tap Cancel — that would void the link you just sent.

  4. On the child's phone: tap "This is my child's phone"

    On the welcome screen, tap This is my child's phone. If the phone scanned the QR or opened the link, the code is already filled in; otherwise type the 4-character code from your screen.

  5. Approve on your phone

    The pairing request appears on your phone (and as a notification if you've left the screen) — tap Approve. The child's phone shows "Connected!" and joins your family.

Data starts in minutes. Once permissions are granted (next step), the first screen-time numbers appear on your dashboard shortly after — and a full report builds over the first days.
Step 3 · Child phone

Grant permissions on the child's phone

After pairing, the child's phone walks through each permission one screen at a time, and moves forward automatically as each is granted. In order:

  1. Usage Access Required

    Lets Raxak measure time spent in each app — the foundation of everything. The app opens the exact settings screen; just select Raxak and allow.

  2. Accessibility — "Safety Shield" Required

    Powers instant app detection, the block screen, and web filtering. The app shows steps for your exact phone brand before opening Android's Accessibility settings.

  3. Tamper protection (Device Admin) Recommended

    Stops the app from being uninstalled without your family PIN. Skippable, but strongly recommended for child devices.

  4. Battery — allow background running Recommended

    Stops the phone's battery saver from switching protection off. On Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, Realme, OnePlus and Huawei this matters a lot — see the brand-specific guide.

  5. Notifications Optional

    Lets the child see status and gentle reminders (like limit warnings) on their own device.

One more may come up later: "Display over other apps" — Raxak asks for it inside the app when a feature needs to draw a reminder or block screen (mainly on the parent's phone). Just allow it when prompted.

Security

Set your family PIN

During setup you'll create a 6-digit family PIN. It's what makes the boundaries stick — it is required to:

Forgot your PIN? You can reset it after re-verifying with your Google account. Every reset notifies the family, and a cooldown prevents rapid repeat resets on a shared phone.

Keep it private. After 3 wrong attempts, PIN entry locks for 5 minutes. Choose a PIN your child won't guess — not a birthday.
One phone, two people

Sharing one phone between you and your child

No second device? Raxak supports a shared phone: one device holds both a parent profile and a child profile, and you switch between them.

Handing the phone to your child

Use Give Device to Child — either for a fixed time (for example, one hour), with a time limit, or indefinitely. The phone switches to child mode with all your rules active.

Getting it back

Tap Return to Parent Mode and enter your family PIN. Switching back always requires the PIN — that's what keeps child mode meaningful.

Note: in child mode the phone needs the same Safety Shield (Accessibility) permission as a dedicated child device; in parent mode it doesn't.
Co-parenting

Add a second parent

  1. Install Raxak on the second parent's phone

    From Google Play, as usual.

  2. Add their phone from your Family screen

    On the first parent's phone, open Family and use Add Device for the parent profile — the same QR (or 4-character code) flow used for a child's phone.

  3. Scan, sign in, approve

    Scan the QR on the second parent's phone, sign in there with their own Google account, and approve the request on the first phone. Both parents now see and manage the same family.
